my bloody valentine

So, this post isn't related to crafty stuff, but I was so excited about the Valentine's Day dinner Andrew and I made last Sunday night, that I wanted to share. We had an all-red dinner with a raspberry and feta salad with raspberry vinagrette...

Grilled Red Shrimp with Roasted Red Pepper Coulis and Orzo...

...and Ruby Red Poached Pears with Vanilla Ice Cream.

The pears were cooked in red wine and cinnamon and sugar, which looked like blood, but was delicious. I think we might make this dessert again for Halloween. It was a nice Valentine's Day dinner. We did it the night after because Andrew had to play a show with Elvis on Sat. And we were housesitting for my brother so we had to take advantage of their fancy kitchen and hot tub.

ipod cozys

I've been thinking about starting a blog for a long time, but I've been lazy about it, and I wasn't sure if my day-to-day stuff was interesting enough to write about. But I've decided that if nothing else, I want a place to document and share what I've been knitting/crocheting.
I've been knitting for quite a few years, but haven't progressed much past scarves and hats. I did make a sweater, once, but it was kind of a disaster. So this winter, I tried my hand at crocheting and found that it is much easier, at least for me, and that it's also much faster. I still love knitting and I'm determined to make a second attempt at knitting a sweater now that Xmas and all the crocheting that went with it is over.

I took pictures of these crocheted ipod cozys I made because I gave them away as Xmas gifts and I wanted to remember them, in case I never make any more.
